About Julie
I am a Level 3 ACA-registered psychotherapist in private practice, providing psychotherapy and counselling to individuals. My background is in art and design, holding a Bachelor of Visual Arts and a Diploma in Fashion Design. For nearly two decades, I have worked as an artist—a practice that continues to be a vital part of my life. Painting has long served as both a form of personal therapy and a means of exploring my fascination with consciousness, human behaviour, and the inner world.
My journey into psychotherapy began in my early twenties, when I started working with a therapist to process trauma and develop a stronger sense of self. The therapeutic experience was profoundly transformative and deeply expansive. It not only helped me heal but also inspired a genuine desire to support others on their own journeys. I understand the importance of providing a safe, compassionate, and supportive space where people can explore, integrate, and make sense of life’s complexities.
I hold a Bachelor of Integrative Psychotherapy from the Ikon Institute of Australia, one of the country’s leading schools in the field. I have also undertaken further training in Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT) and specialise in adult attachment repair.
How I practice
Foundational to my practice is an integrative and person centred approach. Simply put, I firmly believe in the innate drive within individuals to move towards flourishing, even when they have encountered obstacles along the way. In essence, my role is to support this journey towards flourishing.
My approach involves fostering self-understanding in the client, allowing them to draw their own conclusions. I adhere to a non-judgmental and non-directive style, emphasising collaboration to help build healthy relational maps and empower the client's agency.
I am dedicated to establishing a secure space where individuals can openly express themselves, fostering a genuine human-to-human connection. My therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based models, customised to suit the unique needs of each client.
